Day 1 of having a blog

I have begun my next year on earth. I just celebrated my birthday yesterday. It was a good one! I got to spend some time with my kids during the day and we got Rita's and I picked up my birthday gift from my plant and book membership at Birch Tree Plants and Books in Leesburg. As a family we had Korean BBQ then came home and did a family video chat (those with family afar might relate) to have both our families sing me happy birthday.

I have been working on connecting with some couples to create some fun styled work for some local venues to share and I am so excited for what is to come!! I have been in the wedding industry for going on 16 total years starting in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas when I was in college starting in 2004 and a small break after I got married and moved abroad. I started second shooting for a local photographer here in the DMV in 2013 and grew to associate shoot for them. I have also been lucky enough to second shoot and associate shoot for other local businesses who are also friends. Having the opportunity to work with other photographers has taught me so much, and being the lead photographer or a second photographer I took my position seriously and lead with all the talent and love I do for my own business. I am looking forward to focusing more on my own couples this year as my kids have been very spread out due to -life- my youngest will be entering his last year in preschool and I feel fully capable of taking on more weddings myself. With my background and love of fashion and photography I don't think its possible for me to get sick of weddings. I just truly feel so thankful and happy getting to see all the fun outfits from guests and the wedding come together. Being the one person that is truly with the couple most of the day I am highly highly blessed to be there to capture it up close and personal. I believe it is my job to help guide the day and make sure everything goes as planned.

Outside of being a lover of all things weddings, I also love to travel. Living abroad when we first married gave us lots of access to travel too so I have been so fortunate to have been to much of Europe and a few countries in Asia. After we returned to the states it did make traveling a tad more challenging so my husband was able to get some short assignments in the UK and Australia. We moved our family of 4 over to England for 4 months and I went to visit him in Australia for 1 month in 2019. My kids were super jealous of the trip. We got to travel to Fiji for a few days I took the photos below and above. The photo at the top of the page is from the island we stayed on, and it was taken of the island they filmed the movie Cast Away on!
